What is Islam?

What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar where Muslims worldwide are supposed to fast from dawn to dusk and it is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam.The Ramadan month can either be 29 or 30 days depending on the sighting of the crescent Moon which is checked during the dusk of the 29th to determine whether it's going to be a 29 day Ramadan or a 30 day Ramadan.Because of these , different countries may end their month either earlier or later than than the rest of the world.Ramadan is technically a month of restraint and for cleansing the soul.Fasting is obligatory for all adult Muslims except those suffering from an illness, travelling, elderly, pregnant, breastfeeding and women on their period.Fasting consists of refraining from eating, drinking, smoking and engaging in sexual relations during the time period of dawn to sunset.

It means 'feast of the breaking  of the fast'.Eid -Al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and 30days of fasting.Muslims all over the world celebrate it with feasts.The celebration starts with communal prayer early morning. The congregation prays facing the direction of Mecca. They exchange Eid Mubarak 🙏 greetings.Eid -Al-Fitr is also known as Hari Rava Puasa in Philippines.
